The Victor

This is the prayer that I said at Dan's memorial service.  Due to the pouring rain/ snow, it was very hard to project my voice, so I am posting it here.  I found this Bible verse when I was researching the WWII Memorial and it has always reminded me of my brother.

In his epistle to Timothy, Saint Paul wrote

I have competed well, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  From now on, the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord will award to all who have longed for his appearance.

If life is a race, I do not know many who can say that they have raced as hard or as well as my brother.  Dan, you have won the race.  We will always miss you, and we will always love you. You can now dance our memories with joy.  May God always hold you in the palm of His hand.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon Him.  May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I know that he's able to smile now.
